Bottom Line: Best under-$50 option for brewing french-press or (manual) drip. Not for espresso.

Extremely inexpensive (on sale). Better than other grinders at this very low price point with better than average dust management. Makes acceptable press-pot and single-cup cone filter coffee (i.e. Melitta drip).

Dust and inconsistent grind are still a problem with this grinder, but workarounds exist to slightly minimize (not eliminate) this problem. MSRP price of $50 is too high. Replacement parts too expensive relative to inexpensive cost of unit, no replacement grindbox lids available for sale. Minimum grind setting grinds too much coffee at 4cups (enough for 24oz).

Used for two years to make press-pot coffee.

Creates a lot of static. While normally bad, this is actually a *good* thing at this price range. While this grinder produces significant dust like others in its price range, the high amount of static causes the dust to cling firmly along the side-walls of the grindbox. This dust may then be easily removed.  While certainly not a good grinder in absolute terms, it is the best grinder I've found under $40.

Because this grinder isn't all that good, I have found that to reduce bitterness in a french press, depress after steeping 3 minutes  and pour no longer than 3:30 minutes. More beans also help, which is easy since this grinder's minimum setting is 4 cups and increases in 2-cups increments all the way up to 18 cups!

Purchased from Kohl's department store for only $30 using a coupon and receiving cash-back incentives.
