Now, here’s a personality type you see all the time. If fact, you may be the type yourself… sometimes.
He (or she) looks like this:
It’s raining: (screeching epithets!) “It does this every time I want to…”
While driving: (screeching epithets!) ”Did you see that? He cut me off! He did it on purpose! Now I’ll be late!”
I have to admit occasionally falling into this personality type, and only later, in the coolness of afterthought, realizing what a waste of time it is.
This is a wonderful character trait (to write about, not to endure), because the victim is a victim of him- or herself, only.
A wonderful, if shocking “comeuppance” is when (or if) said victim ever gets clued in.
No, Sonny Jim, sorry. The Universe doesn’t care one whit about you. After all, one man’s inopportune rainstorm is the extended life of another’s crops.
Oh, and that guy who intentionally cut you off? He may have been sloppy, careless, even, but most likely, never even saw you.
As I have said elsewhere in UhW, it takes a lot to really be evil. It takes nothing at all to be careless.
