Minimal grinder setup?

No offence Slash, but I doubt that will work. That is a woodworking machine... I am not saying a WW belt sander won't work, however I think you won't be able to get a decent grind, due to the platen lips and such. I would honestly look into one of thse: http://www.harborfreight.com/1-inch-...nder-2485.html That is designed for metalwork..

Now for the safety/clean living part of me: I assume that you have used these types of tools before, and are aware of the safety precautions... grinding is one area where you do NOT want to skip the eye protection... and don't get any MRIs done for a while, or it will find any metal splinters you might get.... Furthermore, where do you intend to use this? A grinder not only creates lots of hot sparks(most are shot down into the shield, however they do sometimes fly!) that can light things like Sails on fire, but they also are messy! Metal dust sux to clean up!

I assume you have done metalworking before, right? I assume you know 0-1 is tool steel... and its a pain in the arse to cut and grind! This isn't something you do with a dremel... try a bandsaw (has to be metal as to be slow enough!)

I am not trying to talk down to you in any way... however I do want to make sure you know what you are getting into.... for this kind of thing you usually require an actual shop... let alone the fantail of a sailboat!
