I bought a new grinder, NOW my espresso machine is cookin'!
I've owned a Rancilio Silvia espresso machine for years, but I've never had a really good grinder, which can cost hundreds of dollars--and up! But when my Starbucks Barista (a decent grinder, but not for espresso) broke, I did my research and ended up with a Breville BCG 800XL. It grinds with ease directly into the portafilter. And it was fairly cheap at $200, less than the price of many boutique stomp boxes. Now, for the first time, I can pull a shot without screwing it up. It'll start paying for itself at once as I drink, rather than toss out, shots of espresso.
