I just tested mine, but it is a 450, so you can only stick your portafilter on a tiny button. Regardless, I have to agree with you. My grinds still looks like grits of sand on 1. The worst part is that I bought is as a package with the Sunbeam Artista. The coffee machine is getting better (barring the noisy motor), so if I could buy another grinder, I hope Mazzer has a smaller one that is fit for home use. I learned to use that brand at a cafe where I started to learn to make coffee.
